The jar (with charcoal): light the charcoal disc and wait about 5 minutes until it is covered in a light grey ash before you place any chips — bare red charcoal burns the chip in seconds with sharp smoke. Place one or two chips on top and let the scent fill the room.

The cones (no charcoal): light the tip, gently blow out the flame, and place the cone on a heat-resistant dish. It keeps glowing on its own. Each cone burns 20–30 minutes.
